Emperor Franz Josef is travelling through Udvarhely. The ruined castle of „Székelytámadt” is purchased by the town from the Kornis family.

Writer Mór Jókai is in Udvarhely, accommodated in the mansion of Lazarus Ugron.

The tyranny eliminates the town-council.

The town is headed by a forced council.

On the eastern side of the Upper Market Square, the Roman Catholic Girls’ Institute is being built.

A railway wing line between Héjjasfalva and Székelyudvarhely was opened, which connected the town to the Transylvanian main railroad.
