The museum opened its gates to the public in 2001. In its first room hats that were made and worn in the country are exposed with the tools required in hat-making, and the different straw ornaments and tools used in everyday life are also waiting for the visitors. In this museum straw hats are not the only things we can get acquainted with: there is a wonderful stone collection in the garden of the museum. The stones are in their original state, the way nature made them by refining and trimming for centuries. The shape of animals, plants, portraits and even Lenin’s hat can be discovered there, made out of stone.
