In the Main square, in the Southern corner of the small park near the reformed church there is a bronze statue of the ”greatest Szekler” Orbán Balázs (1829–1890), who was a member of Parliament and correspondent member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1872. His statue was created by a sculptor, László Hunyadi from Marosvásárhely and Mihály Antal foundry master from Szabadka. Orbán Balázs led an adventurous romantic life. He traveled throughout his homeland and wrote his main, six-volume-work is entitled The Description of the Szeklerland. He was an outstanding writer, etnographer, photographer. He died without successors, making the Szekler people his heir.
